PIRATE BALLADS, SEA SONGS & CHANTEYS
Music Producer HAL WILLNER, Verbinski (director of Pirates of the Carribbean) and Johnney Depp in collaboration with ANTI RECORDS. “Due out August 22, the [two-CD] collection is filled with contemporary reinterpretations of songs from a genre of music that has all but disappeared.”

The ocean. It’s all about the vast blue that engulfs two thirds of the planet. The human being cast against that abyss creates an interesting bit of perspective. I think the sailors of the time were dancing with death, and these were their tunes. Gore Verbinski

I'm familiar with a few of those artists, but I don't know Jack Shit.

Thank you! Thank you very much...I'll be here all week!

Henry I fell out of my chair!!!!
Do you THINK it's a typo (with artists..you never know) (Laughing again) Guess I better go look?!!!
...I cut & pasted the track list.

Followup:
...checked spelling which is correct.

You scared me to death Henry, I ran into this CD while surfing something else. Did not really read the track list before posting, and (just now) did not at first find any references when I went googleing for this production. (using the term 'rogue' tends to pull up weird stuff!)

...For long minutes, - thought I'd been scammed, and had picked up a faked announcement in someones blog.
It is in Wikipedia & Billboard (whoo, sighs in relief)

I believe members of Jack Shit were studio players on Jonatha Brooke's "Steady Pull" album. They were mentioned on the DVD she put out in 2001.

Turns out, Jackshit is an L.A. bar band. They have one album that includes a few country/bluegrass/folk-rock covers.

Its a auto buy for me, I'm a sucker for historicaly based ethnic stuff, must be my 'fey' Irish roots that always hark me back to admiring these things.
Plus I'm a sucker for captains...planes ...ships.
I have a (tiny) sailboat upon which - I never listen to music. I prefer rather to sit (play like I'm Darma  ) in lotus position while "sheets bellowing in the wind" just blithely communing with nature :D
(two dollars, - to he who can come up the comeback line for that line; - and the movie taken from! )

I do have a player on board, - might be worth an exception to listen to this one under the moon ...out on the water. very apropro :)

Mary,
You commune with nature while your sails make the deep roaring sound characteristic of a bull?
;)

Sheets bellying in the wind.

(I don’t think I know how to spell it?! That looks better.)
