I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but I need to know the status on these titles as I'm excited to purchase them whenever they become available.
Does anyone know when these titles will be available in Region 1?
    Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
The Apu Trilogy (Pather Panchali, Aparajito, The World of Apu)
    L'Atalante
    Blowup
Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia
    Day For Night
    The Earrings of Madame De…
    E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial
    The Exterminating Angel
    Floating Weeds
    Gates of Heaven
    Greed
    A Hard Day's Night
    Hoop Dreams
    King Kong
    La Dolce Vita
    Laura
    Le Samourai
    McCabe & Mrs. Miller
    My Darling Clementine
    My Neighbor Totoro
    Pandora's Box
    Persona
    Pickpocket
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    Saturday Night Fever
    Star Wars
    Sunset Boulevard
    Swing Time
    A Tale of Winter
    Trouble in Paradise
    Un Chien Andalou
The 'Up' Documentaries ('42 Up' Available)
    Wings of Desire
    Yankee Doodle Dandy
Many, if not all of these titles are included in Roger Ebert's Bi-Weekly column, 'The Great Movies'. So I would assume that would mean they'll eventually see a release, right?

E.T. should be out by August. Saturday Night Fever is ude out from Paramount this year. Raiders has been rumoured this year, but that is less reliable then the other two. That is all i know about.

I believe Wings of Desire and King Kong are being worked on as we speak; both of them will be Special Editions.
As for A Hard Day's Night, this already came out on DVD, but was pulled shortly afterwards. Miramax/Buena Vista announced a brand-new Special Edition of the film, complete with remastered video/audio and commentary tracks, among other goodies; cover art was even printed up. But then it got delayed. And again. And again. Who knows when this is coming out?

The existing MPI copy of Hard Day's Night is pretty good. Am I glad I picked it up from Costco for $16 about 3 years ago - should have bought all they had....

Bring Me the Head of... will be out sometime this year from MGM.

Ali: Fear Eats The Soul is part of a re-release of 20 Fassbinder films that have had new restorations on film and are being distributed theatrically in North American by Fox/Lorber/Winstar/whatever they're calling themselves these days. They are all supposedly coming to DVD, but how soon is anyone's guess. 3 have been announced by Fantoma for later this year, but Ali is not one of them.

Brook, didn't you post a release date for A Hard Day's Night that you found somewhere?

I believe that Sunset Blvd. is in the works for this year.

Also, I read a release date last year for Wings of Desire. Guess it never materialized, just like MGMs promised Fanny and Alexander.

Yes, it was 6/3 for Hard Days Night, but that's R2 U.K.

Did Martin ever confirm Sunset Blvd.? I know he said it needed restoration. He told me it was coming out last year, but of course it never materialized.

I saw a rather beat-up print in a theater last March.

Thanks guys for all the replies and dates, etc.

It's a true shame that many of these still have no date, whatsoever.
