From the DVDTalk Forum:
It will probably be the same transfers as the last DVDs released, therefore if you own the current Rocky boxset you just need to pick-up of Rocky Balboa if you want the complete set.
Gonna be the same thing w/ RAMBO... Although it'll be split up since LGE/Artisan has the first 3 films.
Perfect time for an HD-DVD release (or Blu-Ray)
I for one will probably not even purchase Rocky VI, as far as I'm concerned, the series is complete right now.
Here's hoping its the same as the recent R2 re-issue.
If they do this they better make the new movie available seperately and not box set only. That is my biggest fear with this release.
The new movie will be available on its own. If it was only available with the box set, they'd just be cutting themselves out of money. Maybe a bonus disc will only be available with a box set but not the movie.
I guess its all a waiting game til then.
A poster over at DVDTalk claims to have seen a preview on a DVD that touts a 2-disc Ultimate Edition of Rocky: http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=459229 - seems the Anthology will also be re-released.
The UK's already got a preview of what the new set is going to look like over here. A new version of the original film with the old special features ported over, as well as some new ones has been released over there.
Here are some helpful links:
How many releases is this.
I know this is more than the third. It's at least the fourth release of the film.
Talk about trying to screw the consumer!
I only bought the original ROCKY (and cheap, too) so I might spring for the upcoming collection. It'll be only my first time.
Now this is sad. I just sold my 'Rocky' set and purchased the current release 2 weeks ago. I obviously missed this post back in December. lol This 30th anniversary set better be amazing beyond words in order for me to purchase these movies a 3rd time. But in the meantime, since this new set won't see the light of day for another year, I'm happy with what I've got.
I'm happy with the current Anthology. The anamorphic picture and great sound are enough to keep me satisfied.
I'll just grab Rocky Balboa when it comes out on DVD. I already sold the original "red glove" Rocky set to buy the current Anthology, and I don't want to repeat the process.
I will buy Rocky VI either way, but only the boxset if there is some special features for the sequels.
