Fox is unfortunately notorious for double dipping and this seems like no exception but they haven't mentioned anything about it yet or I haven't seen anything.

Any word of a 2 disc SE down the road?

Otherwise based on the initial reviews, the single disc seems loaded and a reference disc for sure.

I've read an interview with the director mentioning that there was the possibility of an extended cut on DVD down the road. However, it's been a while and I can't remember where I read it. So, take this info with a grain of salt. [IMG]

I also remember reading the longer cut story. I can't seem to find it though. If it turns up I'll post the link here.

I would say that at this point, if you're buying a new release from Fox that was a mid-size hit to a blockbuster, you should be prepared that it could have a special edition. If I buy a new Fox title, I either enjoy the movie enough that I want it ASAP and 1.) I don't mind rebuying it to get special features or 2.) I don't care enough about it to buy it a second time for the special features.

Maybe a Robots SE will come out when Fox's next animated movie is released? That way they can give out a free ticket in it.

Is Region 2 getting the same thing us Region 1? If R2 is getting a 2 disc edition, it's a surefire bet that there will be a double dip in R1

Actually, less than Region 1. Off the top of my head, the UK R2 loses DTS, a commentary, has voices changed, a character name changed...

R4 got even less features but at least that's uncut...

The amazing thing that bothers me is that they have the material (not talking about this release) but they deliberately decide not to release it to R1. If they didn't have it, it wouldn't hurt that much! You would say, they don't have the time and the material will be prepared later but I have seen in R2 that they already had the second DVD prepared!

Both Robots and the forthcoming Mr & Mrs Smith from Fox are only 1 disk in UK R2, so any SE may be someway off.

The Fox title I would be careful with is Fantastic Four which has a 2 disk SE coming out in both R2 & R3 on initial release, so indicating that Fox have prepared the SE but are refusing to release it straight off in R1, like previous ones it will appear in around 6 months or so.

Seeing as they can release a 2 disc SE after the fact for such craptacular entertainments as Garfield and Alien Vs. Predator, I'm sure they well do the same for the less crappy Robots. I'd wait.

Don't wait...the video quality is jaw dropping!

    The sound is clean.

    The movie is fast.

    Extras are sufficient.

    Very breathtaking.

    Ice Age was just funnier.

perfect short review of the movie/dvd chris.

i watched it last week and was amazed at the near perfection of the image.

i couldnt see a hint of EE and my tv isvery sensitive to EE.

i think it looked better then the recent toy story 10th edition.

if this isnt the best video presention of a movie on dvd yet then i dont what is.

I saw this in an IMAX Theater in San Fransisco, and could not wait to buy the DVD.

I won't be able to watch it until this weekend, but its good to hear that the DVD appears to measure up well to my expactations.

Kind of surprised that none of the usual suspects here were able to post a review before it was reelased. Too many DVD's, too little time, I would wager.

I watched it projected on a 185" screen and it didn't even have LCD flaws.

Now, THE INTERPRETER was very painful to view.
EE from a mile away. A brand new movie from Universal.
