The series breathed new life into his career.Apparently he doesn't see it that way if he's leaving over money issues.
Frankly, I've felt as if the show's been on a slide anyhow.Same here...but Lowe will be missed.
I wonder who they'll get to take over his spot.True. Even though Seaborn has had less and less airtime, the speechwriting position he holds is crucial, especially with an election coming up. They will have to find someone to take his place.
Heck, at least now they won't have to avoid things like the R-Kelly controversyI don't fault Lowe for what he did. When he got hit with the whole videotape/underage sex incident Rolling Stone had a great article about it. The whole thing was the two underage girls had fake IDs and had been going to the over 21 nightclubs for about two years. It wasn't like he was R. Kelly and knew they were underage.
EVERYONE except Rob has had a salary bump since Season 1. I don't blame him for leaving...That makes sense if you believe Rob and Martin are the stars of the show. NBC believes it's the Martin and Ensemble show. Martin Sheen is now making $300,000 per show, Rob Lowe makes $75,000 per show and has since the first season. All the other cast members received a pay bump that raises them to $70,000 per show after the infamous 4 staged a walkout. Rob still makes more than his ensemble counterparts and wanted a raise to push him out the pack.
I'm sure all the other ensemble actors have clauses in their contracts about raises should other cast members besides Martin Sheen receive one, which is probably why the producers felt it was time to give Rob the old heave ho.
And I'm sure the recent Emmy nominations was the straw that broke the camel's back. I mean literally everyone else was nominated an that show, except for him. That had to hurt. This is his own damn fault. Everybody else put their name in for Supporting Actor/Actress while Lowe submitted for the much more competitive Leading Actor category.
