DAMN! I love The Cars, and Ocasek was a true pioneer of the "new wave" genre in the 70's.
The Cars are a timeless rock band. Their albums are still great!
So sad, and 70 is way too young to go in this day and age.
R.I.P.

Like Dana said, first Eddie Money and now Ocasek. Damn. Another favorite from the '70s / '80s is gone. RIP Mr. Ocasek.

Very sad, but inevitable. When I think of all the great pop icons from the 80's that are no longer with us - Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, George Michael, Robert Palmer, Prince, etc. it truly breaks my heart. The passage of time is a cruel test of the frailty of human longevity. We come, make a mark - if we can - then pass quietly into the night, hopefully, to be remembered by others along the way. There are no guarantees. And in the end, all we have, we surrender to another time and place. Hail and farewell, then to Ric Ocasek - now and forever - truly - among the stars.

Love the Cars and was sad to hear the news about Ric.

Was there any filming of their tour for their last album Move Like This?

Bryan H. Emotion in Motion is my favorite Ocasek song.

Just fan videos on youtube from the Electric Factory in Philly. I was so pissed because I had no idea that they were touring and I live just over the bridge. My only chance to see them in concert.

At least he always got to go home to Paulina Porizkova for so many years--giving credence to the idea that musicians always get the gal! :D They met during the filming of the Cars' video of Drive. I can't imagine what he saw in her...

I have Mobile Fidelity's SACD of Heartbreak City and absolutely love it. Ah...the music of our youth.

Well, I must confess that outside his aforementioned venture into acting, my first actual exposure to his music, believe it or not, was this:

The video managed to make what was already nightmare fuel even more nightmarish, but what an interpretation of the song!
