I read about his passing this morning and was very sad about it. He was a fine actor and one not always given his just rewards.

When he won his Emmy for Guyana Tragedy, the Screen Actors Guild was in the midst of a Hollywood strike, and most actors nominated for the awards did not show up for the ceremony. Boothe was one of the few who did so he was present to accept his statuette. He wondered later, however, if his doing that would cost him roles in the future. I wonder about that to this day since he never had the star career he so richly deserved.

Thoughts go to his family and friends.

Saddened to hear of Powers Boothe's passing. Always found him very interesting to watch in any role personal favorites being The Emerald Forest or Extreme Prejudice.

RIP Mr Boothe you will be missed. Deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans.

I loved him in Nixon, U-Turn, Frailty, both Sin Citys, he had a good run on 24 as a Vice President who was somewhat understandably a jerk and what I consider his best role- Cy Tolliver in Deadwood. He was a really wonderful character actor and I'll miss seeing him in movies and TV shows.

Sorry to wake up to this news. I never saw Powers Boothe in anything where he wasn't terrific. I think the first thing I saw him in was the Emerald Forest, which I saw due to my interest in John Boorman (who had directed Excalibur, a favorite of mine). The last thing I saw him in was his extended arc in Agents of Shield last year. I remember thinking at the time that ABC was lucky to get an actor of his stature for their show. His Sin City appearances remain favorites too.

First thing I saw him in was Guyana, then Philip Marlowe on HBO before he resurfaced in Tombstone. Great actor who elevated every role he portrayed. RIP. Condolences to his family.

These threads really remind me that time does march on.

I've been a fan of Mr. Boothe since Southern Comfort in which his character served as a somewhat 'normal' viewpoint into a slightly askew world of National Guardsmen. He was very talented and I always felt that he should have had more recognition. Condolences to his friends and family. Another fine performer who will be missed.

You fuckers need to watch EXTREME PREJUDICE if you want to honor Powers Boothe in the right way. Cash Bailey all the way.

Powers Boothe was the goddamn real deal. Dude was Cy Tolliver and Gorilla Grodd with equal aplomb. One of the absolute coolest voices in film/TV. We're gonna miss him.

Every time I hear someone's developing a movie about Jonestown, I wonder how anybody can top Boothe's performance in that miniseries. It is damn near perfect, and creepy as fuck. The guy was a master at playing sinister good ol' boys and authority figures, but he had a range beyond that, too.

Southern Comfort, Extreme Prejudice, Red Dawn, Sudden Death, By Dawn's Early Light, Boorman's The Emerald Forest. That weird pro-wildlife conservation action movie he did with Rutger Hauer and Donald Pleasence. (MacGruber!)

I was definitely a fan.

R.I.P.
