Thoughts with his family. Lafayette was the best character on True Blood and his performance clearly added even more humor to the character.

I thought it odd when his character on Elementary died. It seemed they still had places to go with the character. Now I'm thinking that his health problems were known and they gave his character a proper exit.

My wife was wondering the same thing when I told her about Nelsan's sudden passing!

That's what I'm thinking what happened. Hell, I never watched True Blood, but I remembered that character while channel surfing HBO and I didn't know it was the same actor as Elementary until his passing.

What a tragedy. Treatment of drug and alcohol abuse should be considered as any other illness and covered by insurance without reservation.

I don't think it was too odd. Every year they introduce a character who is gone by season's end. First Kitty, then Sherlock's father, now Shinwell. I fully expected him to be gone by the end of the year.

I am sorry but I had completely missed this on his passing. A little late but deepest condolences to his family and friends. I enjoyed his presentation of Shinwell and believed that there would be a lot more to explore but unfortunately it was not to be.
