Dawn Wells passes at 82 due to COVID-19 complications...

See you on that big island in the sky. RIP Ms. Wells.

- Walter.

EDIT: Just noticed that this was posted in the GILLIGAN'S ISLAND Thread.

This is not only sad but for me very weird - last night we watched surviving Gilligan's Island.
I was always a Mary Ann guy. RIP
Same here. No disrespect to Tina Louise [or any of the others] but I always liked the Mary Ann character.

"Are you a Ginger, or Mary Ann guy?" is an age old question.

I always liked Ginger better, not to say that Mary Ann wasn't gorgeous.
I regret not getting the autograph, and chance to meet Dawn Wells when I had the chance.
Gilligan's Island was a big part of my childhood. I loved the show.

R.I.P Dawn, and thank you for the nostalgic memories of classic TV.

In my youth, I was a Mary Ann guy. After I watched some of Tina Louise's movies due to home video, I became a Ginger guy.:D

With Tina Louise surviving, it's an interesting irony that she didn't like the show and didn't come back for the reunions.

The only movie I own on Bluray with Tina Louise in it is The Hangman 1959 with Robert Taylor. Olive Films 2012 release. A favorite B&W Western of mine. She is very good in it. And Beautiful as ever.

In that film, she hardly wore any makeup for that role and her natural beauty was more on display. I have five of her movies on Blu-ray and DVD.

  • Day of the Outlaw
  • The Trap
  • The Hangman
  • God's Little Acre
  • The Stepford Wives

As for the eternal question of Ginger or Mary Ann, I think I would have happily ended up with Mary Ann (maybe with Ginger on the side). Dawn Wells was incredibly appealing. R.I.P.

It's ironic, given Tina Louise's efforts at 'distancing' herself from the show, that every appearance she makes from now on could be marketed as a "Gilligan's Island Reunion"
