David L. Lander, who played Squiggy for eight seasons on "Laverne & Shirley", has passed away from complications of multiple sclerosis at age 73.

Lander was also a writer on the show for its first two seasons. Since his MS diagnosis in 1984, he primarily worked as a voice actor. A couple notable exceptions were his three guest appearances on neighbor David Lynch's "Twin Peaks" as the taxidermist Tim Pinkle, and a recurring role on daytime soap "The Bold and the Beautiful" as Dr. Marty Guthrie in the late nineties.

Michael McKean, Lander's comedy partner and the onscreen Lenny to Lander's Squiggy, posted the following photo tribute on Twitter:

Obviously, he's most famous for making people laugh as Squiggy but he'll always be Mr. Pinkle on Twin Peaks to me.

EDIT: I forgot that he was in Used Cars and 1941. Two movies that I love!

He popped up here and there in so many cameos and I was always happy to see him. Another one who will be missed.

I was familiar with him as Squiggy but wasn’t aware of anything else in his career, nor about his MS diagnosis. My wife was diagnosed with MS 5 years ago and luckily hasn’t progressed past the “relapsing/remitting” stage.

He played the baseball radio play by play guy in A League Of Their Own. RIP, David.
