I was quite a bit older than I should have been when it hit me that all the "grownups" on Sesame Street were just actors. There was something about the universe that show created that you just believed.

Alaina Reed in particular was really talented. Here's a clip of her from Follow That Bird (her part starts at about 0:45):

She, and the entire cast of sesame street changed our culture in ways it's hard to even fathom. RIP, Alaina. Your contributions will long be remembered. I grew up with you, and I was glad to invite Sesame Street into my home for my children.
