RGBHV output to VGA input? (1 Viewer)

This is kinda weird, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I have a Panny TUHDS20 STB and I'm thinking of using the RGB output to my front projector. Can I simply use a breakout cable in reverse? That means the 5 RCAs out of the STB and the 15-pin VGA into my pj? Or is the cable directional? Anyone have a clue?

VGA pin-out is RGBHV. If you can't find an appropriate cable with RCA connectors, you can certainly find one with BNC connectors and use BNC->RCA adapters.

Small caution. Some RGB to VGA cables have the colors of the H and V cables reversed. I can never remember which one is gray and which one is black.
If you connect them incorrectly, the results are unpredictable, such as no picture.
