I am looking to buy a new DVD player and am trying to find

good review internet sites. Any help would be appreciated.

Also you can put your recommendations here for players under

    $300 dollars.

    Is audioreview.com a reliable site?

For less than $300 you could get the Panny RP-56 or the JVC 70BK which also plays DVD-Audio. Neither of these units has the Chroma Bug, and both are easily found for less than $270.

I am leaning towards the JVC as it has DVD-Audio and I really want Bjork's "Vespertine" on DVD-A.

    Kelley nailed it.

And yes, that site is one of the most helpful. Better than almost any other you can find. If you take the time to read ALL of the posts on any particular item you come away with a heck of a lot of input that still remains very helpful.

    Blair,

I have been searching for a new Progressive Scan DVD player for a while now and I feel that if you are going to spend $400 why not spend a bit more and get the Panny RP-91, which many consider to be the best DVD player out there. Or you could wait on the new Denon 1600 which will street for about $450. No matter what you do in the $400 range I would demand to get one with either DVD-A or SACD.

I was just reading ... The Perfect Vision ? last night and they compare 21 different DVD players. But they also have the top 5 units with more detailed descriptions. Worth a look.

From The Perfect Vision, March/April 2002 issue:
    Class 1: (state-of-the-art)
Ayre D-1 $11,250 (For that price, it had better be[IMG])
Class 2: (step down from ultimate)
    Integra Research RDV-1 $3,000
    Arcam DV-88P $2099
    Sony DVP-900ES $1199
    Class 3: (less ambitious high-performance)
    Dennon DVM-4800 $1249
    Sony DVP-NS900V $999
    Yamaha DD-S1200 $999
    Panasonic DVD RP91: $799
Class 4: (worthy choices, remarkable values, limitations in performance or features)
    Harman Kardon DVD-50 $649
    Panasonic DVD RP56 $299
    Sony DVP NS700P $299
    Sony DVP NC650V $399
They have a small paragraph for each - but you should run out and buy the magazine. (Consider this a tease [IMG] )

Man the "old" Sony 9000ES still hangs in there!

I'm now thinking either Denon 1600(unless it turns out to be a Denon 2800) or the new Panny RP-82 or still the RP-91 is in there also.
