It's true that JL producer Bruce Timm has gone on record as saying that widescreen is his preferred version, but so many people still want to see the version with more picture. I can understand their reasoning, though I disagree with it. After all, in animation there won't be any boom mikes dropping in from the top of the screen. Every single thing that's drawn is intended to be there. That makes cutting off any portion of the picture a tough sell for many people. It'll be interesting to see if WB even bothers with a widescreen version of Return of the Joker when it get re-released, and with Justice League when that's released.
