I just watched the original versions of the original trilogy on dvd and there is an audio drop out at 1:52:30 that seems to coincide with the cut between shots. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I have a bad disk or is at a player or authoring issue? I'd appreciate it if someone could check their copy for me.

Just checked mine w/headphones on the pc and, yep, the left channel drops briefly right at that point. No doubt a mastering error.

I also checked my copy with headphones, and I hear it too.

BUT.....I checked the same spot on the "face" Laserdisc, and it's there as well (they're from the same master so it's evidently on the LD master and not a problem with the DVD itself).

Good ears, I'm surprised nobody picked up on that sooner.

EDIT: I also checked the ROTJ "face" VHS (which is from the same master as the DVD and LD) and the drop out is there as well.
