Wait. You don't consider ESB also worthy??? You're probably the very first I've ever heard suggest that.

I know the consensus is that ESB is the best in the series, but that is not the case in my book. The first one will always be the best in my book. It was the perfect balance of humor, action and.pathos for a popcorn movie.

I saw the first one multiple times before Lucas ruined it. I can count on hand the number of times that I have seen the rest.of them, including ESB.

I can understand the first film being someone's favorite, but not liking ESB is certainly an atypical take. What is it about ESB that you don't like?
It's not that I didn't like it. Technically, it is a jjump on the first one. It just didn't grab me like the first one did. The one I actually didn't like from the original three was RoTJ. That was when the slide downhill started and then kept up.picking speed with every subsequent theatrical release.

Star Wars only got saved when the animated TV series came around. The only redeeming feature of the prequel trilogy was that they opened up.ground for much better animated series.

There was an alternate ending for ROTJ.

In a movie that had Jabba's palace populated with Muppets and a planet full of teddy bears, I doubt this darker ending was ever seriously considered.

I seem to recall there had long (probably w/in a couple years after RotJ's theatrical release) been talk about Luke maybe eventually turning to the Dark Side some years later (after RtoJ) possibly in a sequel... and I actually wondered if that might indeed happen when the sequel trilogy was announced. I've never read any of the books, including the comics, so no idea if the "canon" set by those would've allowed that to actually happen...
