    Hello all,
I am having the HVAC ran in my basement this Friday and was wondering what everyone's thought might be on putting a return air vent inside, on the side, of the component cabinet? My thoughts would be that that would allow the hot air to escape and get replaced by other air(and also be hidden).

    Any thoughts?

My only concern would be enough air flow through the return to allow enough warm air to make it in the room.

I asked my HVAC gut about it and he advised me against it. Instead I will be installing a bathroom fan as an exhaust, triggered by my receiver.
