Will Universal ever release this magnificent film on dvd? It received very little attention when it was released in theaters back in 1980. Ellen Burstyn gives what many consider her best performance along with Sam Shepard and an incredible supporting cast. It also boasts a remarkable score by Maurice Jarre.

Spoiler: The end of this film is so deeply touching and profoundly moving that it will probably stay with you forever.

This is a great film that I wish was available on DVD. I met the director, Dan Petrie, many years ago and told him about my affection for this movie, and he said people either loved it or hated it, and that it's less-than-good box office kept it from a mass video release.
