Resolution loss with too much overscan? (1 Viewer)

I read a post in another forum where someone stated that if you had too much overscan on the sides you would lose resolution in the picture.
I'm doing the 16:9 squeeze trick on my Panasonic and have resolution set for 5 percent on the sides via AVIA.
Is 5 percent too much for the sides? Would I get better resolution if I went to 3 percent?

Overscan doesn't affect resolution directly. The only thing you're really losing is what's being lost at the edges. 5% is reasonable, going lower can make some undesirable edges show up on certain content. Don't worry, 5% is ok.
