I'm not talking about the merits of Superbit alone, but I'd like to ask whether the Superbit version of Resident Evil is actually visually better than the regular version.

The reason I ask is that I can't see enough visual quality upgrade on some of the titles. For example, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, I can't see the difference, whereas with Mask of Zorro, Fifth Element, and Air Force One, I can see the difference quite clearly.

Well I had the original unopened so I just took it back for the Superbit edition. I have seen it on dvd and thought it looked great. I don't know how much better the Superbit is but I'll take a Superbit title over the normal edition anytime.

This doesn't answer your question, but there is a noticable improvement with The Patriot Superbit, as well. No matter what title, I will always go with the Superbit.
