I think Mike Tyson pushed really hard to have these extra scenes put in.

The ear scenss I'm not that interested in. The banter scenes should be great, though. IMO, the ear scene as-is is the most disturbing scene in the movie. I love the fact that it makes you squirm without showing a thing. It's always been one of my favorite aspects of the movie.

The "ear scene" is perfect as it is - it works so much better by NOT showing you the act of violence. Bah.
