Rescuing VHS tapes (1 Viewer)

Some of my VHS tapes that I am transferring to DVD are becoming unviewable because they were stored in humid environments. A number have developed a white film or coating inside the case and covering the tape in splotches that causes the tape to bind (I think). Any thoughts about how to rescue these tapes?
