Republic "Twin Peaks" pilot locking up Malata DVD Player? (1 Viewer)

Hi,
I just received the Republic "Twin Peaks" pilot DVD from Hong Kong. When I play it in my Malata N996, it goes thru the initial stuff (FBI, etc), plays the Republic Pictures opening, and then locks HARD - picture goes blank, unit will not respond to any remote commands, etc. I have to shut it off via the front-panel power switch. I tried it 3 times, and never could get past that. However, the DVD plays fine in my venerable Sony DVP-S3000.
Does anyone else with both the Malata and this DVD have any troubles with it?

You have to hit STOP just as it begins to load. Then, hit menu. That disc locks up almost any player.
