Who owns the Republic Pictures catalog of movies? I know at one time Artisan owned it, but now that they're being bought out by Lion's Gate, is it safe to assume that they will own the Republic catalog?

I am specifically hoping that one day the movie Scared Stiff will come out on DVD. I have it on 4:3 Laserdisc, but would love to have it on DVD. Its one of my favorite under-appreciated horror films from the 80s.

Lion's Gate has them for now but I believe in 2005 or 2006 they will revert to Paramount.

Republic was owned by Spelling Entertainment. It was bought up by Viacom, and I believe the rights to Republic's material were shuffled over to Paramount. But the Artisan video license is still in effect until next year, and Lion's Gate will still be able to make their own releases of these films in the meantime.
