    Is it possible?
    Is it practical?

Its for a friend of mine, so I have no idea what he has going on other than his TV, HDTV cable box, and Replay TV system...

    Thank you much,

    Gencs

ReplayTV doesn't have any HDTV capable models yet. You can record the downconverted to NTSC output of the cable box, but can't actually record in HD.

For HD PVR recording, you need either one of the satellite/OTA PVRs (e.g. HD-Tivo), or a cable box DVR, like the Motorola 6208/6412, or Scientific Atlanta 8000HD. There are also some cableCARD compatible models coming out from Sony & Mitsubishi among others.
