I was wondering if anyone knew anything about a replacement for the Sony DVP-NC655P coming soon. I was hoping to get this player for Christmas, but it seems that everyone is dropping the price on it. Sony's online store has dropped the price, Best Buy also has it on sale, and Crutchfield also has a reduced price and gift certificate deal going on.

I'd rather get the latest model than the best price. And no, I'm not interested in the Panasonic RP-72.

Don, I have been wondering the same thing myself. The 'NC655P has not been out too long, so Sony might have merely dropped the price to be more competitive. Note that the 'NS655P does not play SACDs, but the Panasonic 'CP72 plays DVD-Audio discs for just $200. On the other hand, perhaps Sony is making room for a new model. A progressive-scan changer that played SACDs would be nice. CEDIA is coming up, so perhaps Sony will announce a new changer then.
