Hi, any speculation on whether there is going to be a new version of the VSX-D850S? Last year's model, VSX-D810S, has a new model, the VSX-D811S, which has some new features that are better than the D850S such as Dolby Prologic II but not as much power and not as good of a remote. Is a VSX-D851S in the works?

    Thanks,
    Karl

Karl, I think the only difference between remotes is the LCD display at the top. In addition, the power differences are basically neglible (100 watts/channel vs. 110) for a number of reasons but the main one being to get 3db more of loudness you need to double the power. There does appear to be an Elite version of the 811S called the VSX-41. I saw one at Tweeter recently and it essentially has the same basic features/processing, same remote, and the same chassis as the 811S, except the display LED is red and the remote has an LCD on the top. It may also be rated at 110 watts/channel. It's retailing for around $600 at B&M stores as opposed to the 811S going for $400.

    cheers,
