I'm going to be in the market for a new dvd player in the near future as my RP91 is on its way out and would be too expensive to repair. I would like a player that would be comparable to the 91, not a really a budget player. I've been strongly considering a Denon 2910 as my first choice, but would like to hear some recommendations for some other players as well. I'll be using it with a Sanyo PLV60 projector.

2910 has already been discontinued. Take a look at the Oppo 970HD or 971H; while it may seem like a budget player, the Oppo 971H surpassed the Denon 5910 in testing.

Thanks for the input Dave. I read as many reviews on the 2930 as I could find & think I'll go with it when the 91 finally gives out.

Trust me - The Oppo 970 and 971 are good players (incredible for the money), but no 5910 when based on sheer picture quality. The person who conducted that test will tell you the same.

Oh, I believe you. It beat the 5910 from a testing standpoint, that doesn't necessarily mean it will look better in all cases.

Gary,

I sent you a PM.

What's your budget? Do you need or want upscaling? HDMI? SACD/DVD-A?

I replaced my RP-91 with a Sherwood-Newcastle SD-860 universal player and have been very happy with it. If you want DCDi, upscaling and HDMI, the SD-871 is worth considering.
