    Hello all,

I currently have a HK AVR-330 but am looking at other options for my new HT. In addition to movies, I'd like to use it for quality 2-channel music listening as well. Would I be better off with something like a Marantz SR-4500 or NAD T742 (or similar budget)? What about offerings from Yamaha or Denon?

    Thanks

I think your 330 has as much or more current than the 4500. IMO, you'd have to step up to the 5x00 to get a slight improvement. The x600s are already starting to be announced though (5600 info was up on Marantz' website last week), so you might take a sit and wait stance for a few weeks and see if you can pick up a 4500 or even a 5500 on closeout. The problem with the 4x00 models is that they lack a fairly significant amount of features that the other models have. They do have full preamp outputs though. NAD should give you a noticable improvement though, but again, will probably be lacking a few features as it is an older model.
