I have completed most of my HT set up and am working on a remote system. I'm set up with an Epson Powerlite 1080 UB projector, Yamaha 663 receiver with Definitive Technology speakers and using a PS3 for my blue ray. I love the looks and sound of this system but now need a remote to run everything. The issue I'm running into is controling the lighting. I want to remotely control overhead and sconce lighting with the same remote as the rest of the equipment. Any suggestions?

I've used X-10 lighting modules with my (ancient) Pronto remote for years with very good results. I just had to add an IR-to-RF convertor to translate the Pronto signal to something the X-10 modules would recognize, and download the X-10 codes to the Pronto. It is very cool to have a single macro that turns on the lights, dims them to the right level, fires up the DVD player, receiver and TV. As a bonus, back when I used to travel a lot on business, I was able to use the Pronto macros to run through a series of realistic patterns of room lighting, music listening and TV viewing on days when I was out of town. (Because I had X-10 modules throughout the house, not just in the living room.) Much more convincing than having the same lights go off and on the same rooms night after night, with maybe a radio playing thrown in for good measure.

Regards,

Joe
