I see that Relic Hunter is finally coming to the US in a 5 disc set... Does anyone have an episode list that will be with this set? I can't find one at the retailers...

    TIA...

According to Amazon, Playcentric, DVDPlanet, and DVDEmpire, it is referred to as a BEST OF for Seasons 1 & 2, which means only some of Season 1 and Season 2 are included.... Can anyone give anything definitive...?

    TIA...

I know nothing about Relic Hunter, but here's a little of what I've found.

Yes, every site seems to have it as Best of Seasons 1 and 2, with a total of 22 episodes. You can even find the art at some places, such as DVD Planet. So, I would assume that's correct and it's a mixed bag of episodes.

But . . . you want to jump through a couple of hoops with me? Go to fireworksentertainment.com (or watchfireworks.com). It's sort of a messy site, and it's hard to find any useful information. The intro page does have a banner ad for a Relic Hunter SEASON ONE DVD set. If you click on that (you can also find the link on the main site if you look hard enough), you are taken to something called Canwest Global and a page with very little information. You wouldn't even know what you were looking at if you hadn't been linked. Anyway, click on US Residents, and you will get a PDF file order form for an EXCLUSIVE Season One box set for $64.99.

So, why make you jump through hoops when I could just give you the PDF file? So you could see the trail to know it is legitimate. And, maybe you don't like PDF links? :p)

Anyway, here's the direct link to the PDF file.

Edit: Holy snikes! Just LOOK at what they want for shipping! [IMG]

Thanks for the *.pdf... Here's to hoping that the "Season 1" holds true to form and not a "Best of" for Seasons 1 & 2.

Relic Hunter originally to be released in season box sets. I ordered one long, long ago. However, after a long delay, I received an e-mail explaining that it would be, instead, released as a best-of set, and the price was reduced. However, the above order form says it's the first season. Maybe I will order it, but $18 shipping is a little stiff ....

I had originally ordered this too when it was a Season 1 and Season 2 complete set. Got the same email about being a Best of compilation. I cancelled. Went back to the site a few months later to find that its a Season 1 set and only available if you mail them a money order. Did that. Started hearing all the 'Best of' talk again so I emailed them. Yesterday I got a reply that it is still a best of compilation. They haven't explained why there web site says Season 1 now instead of the 'Best of' it had said. These people are clueless!

BTW, I've got all of Season 2 from the UK on dvd. 16:9 too! Looks great. I hear the Season 1 disc aren't that great though. They were released by a different company.

This is debacle of biblical proportions, the rights issue is so gummed up it will be a miracle if it's ever relased. They've been talking about this release for almost 2 years. Contender UK has release season 2 in 16:9 anamorphic and want's to do more, but they can't get the rights.

It was originally announced as a Fireworks direct sale item 2 years ago at $99 CAD as a deluxe 16:9 set loaded with extras. (yes, season 1 was shot 16:9 also, if you watch around there is a 'making of season 1' special showing on SPACE (Candian SciFi channel) and the clips are letterboxed).

Then it was found out that no, they would be 4:3 crop/chop.

Then there was a 'delay'.. that lasted almost 9 months.

Then it was announced that it was a best of season 1/2 set.

Then all the extras went away.

There were some S1 releases in R2 Japan and UK, but they were two episodes edited together into 'movies' and the quality was very, very bad.

You probably won't know what they are till they show up in the mailbox... myself, I'm passing till they get a 16:9 release and keeping my DVD-R's till then..

I agree this has been handled poorly.

I know the S1 UK dvds look bad but do the Japanese ones look bad too?

    Okay can any give me simple run down;

I want Relic Hunter R1 to watch on my dvd player(R1 only)

    1) I get this set, only recourse, likely ever
    2) There is or are coming WS version of best or even better yet Season based that are R1 somewhere in world. he

Ive only seen TV show in 4:3 so this is extremely rare situation where if only way I likely going to be able watch them on dvd is this is I can live with it.

    thank ya

    3) get an ExpressVU system and a DVD-Recorder, showing daily on SPACE, uncut. Make your own. (probably the most satisfying in the long run).
