While I agree that it's not ideal, it still nevertheless can be helpful. It's just another tool for your lawyer to use. All evidence is subject to interpretation. I could e-mail something to myself and bounce it off a couple of public mail servers, for example. It would be up to a judge/jury to determine the merit of such "proof" though. The more, the better.
