Well, recently after trying a hack a found online, my Panasonic DVD A110 went on the fritz (the onscreen commands don't show up... and when using various commands it causes problems in the audio and video).

anyways, I decided that even though i'm gonna still try to fix this one, it's time to get a new player. A friend of mine pointed me to this place and told me that you guys were pretty knowledgable on the subject... so, basically I'm looking for a player that is region free (or on easily hackable) that also does Pal->NTSC, so i don't have to buy a converter. Price doesn't really matter, but I'd like to get something that's dependable at the most reasonable price available.

I thank you in advance!

Kevin,

if price is not a big concern and you´re looking for a region-free PAl-NTSC player, then I would suggest this Denon player, as far as I know it's the best out there .

http://denon.jp/asia/PRODUCTS/homepro/DVDA1.html

then click the PDF file for full detail.

In addition, all pioneer players are easily hackable and most denon players can be hacked by firmware change (a simple, but sort of risky procedure).

i'm still not sure what i'm gonna go for... I hear good things about the Philip 727. That one has a remote hack, right?

i just ordered the Philips 727 from Amazon.com and placed an order from Amazon.co.uk also, so that I'll have some discs to test out on it.

heh, yea. There were a few players that I prefered, but with such a low price, I couldn't pass up the 727.

I also made my first purchase from amazon.co.uk:

Predator 2 disc spec. edition
But I'm a Cheerleader (longer cut, but slightly cropped)
Sleepless (unlike the R1, this one's not fullframe!)
Ring 2
Ring 0: Birthday
