I understand that there are some LEGAL sites from where one can purchase downloadable software to make one's PC-based DVD player 'Region Free' and able to handle virtually any DVD. I know one such company called 'Slysoft' who sell something called 'AnyDVD', but they are very dodgy and will NOT refund the money if their software does not work. What I am requesting from other members is info on other (more reliable & contactable) companies who do similar software & sell them legally. Thanks you in anticipation.

Go up under the Apple in the menu, pull down "about this Mac">more info>ATA
(assuming your Combo/Super drive is in this device tree)
Look up your drives maker (vendor)
then go to this site: http://www.videohelp.com and look it up there
There is also a guy named "xvi" who has a site somewhere-google it-he has Region free patches for many drives

Why is Slysoft dodgy? AnyDVD is a first-rate program, and I'd be stunned if it doesn't work for you.
