Just thought it might be useful to have a list of region 2 DTS-ES DVDs (Japanese discs with an English soundtrack are fine), much like the list for R1 here:
    http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...threadid=19190

Im not going to include Dolby Digital EX releases since they are hardly ever properly flagged and hence rather akward. Only properly flagged titles will be listed. Please note all DTS-ES discrete sound tracks also include Matrix information. A * means it is confirmed.

    DTS-ES Matrix 5.1:

    Suspiria (Anchor Bay) *
Army Of Darkness (Anchor Bay) *
    Chicken Run (Pathe) *
    Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition (Momentum)*
    Die Another Day (MGM) *
    Signs (Jap) *
    Fifth Element (German Release)*

    DTS-ES Discrete 6.1:

    Evil Dead (Anchor Bay) *
LOTR The Fellowship of the Ring - Extended (EIV) *
LOTR The Two Towers - Extended (EIV) *
    Seven (EIV)
    Rush Hour 2 (EIV) *
Austin Powers Gold Member (New Line) *
    Maniac (Anchor Bay)
The Chillout Session - Ibiza Sunsets (Ministry of Sound)
K19 - The Widowmaker (German Release)
Kiss Of The Dragon (German Release)
    The Transporter (German Release)
    Basic (German Release)
    Die Another Day (Japanese Release)
Pirates Of The Caribbean (Japanese Release)

DTS 96/24 Titles (Any Region - DVDVideo):

    Queen - Greatest Video Hits 1 (HollyWood Records - R1 & R2)
    Queen - Greatest Video Hits 2 (HollyWood Records - R1 & R2)
    X-Men 2 - D-VHS Only (Fox)
The Tour Of Misia 2003 Kiss In The Sky (Japan R2)
    13 Steps - AKA: 13 Kaidan (Japan R2)

Thanks for the list... would you consider adding the DTS 5.1 titles to the list too?

DTS 5.1 titles are too common and are well documented in the DTS's own list here:
    http://www.dtsonline.com/media/uploa...s/QRGMay03.pdf

However the list given does not list the ES titles very well, alot of the titles I know are 6.1 (And are correctly flagged) are not listed as 6.1. If you know any additional titles that are 6.1 I'd love to hear of them, many titles are region 2 and 4 combined afterall.

Flagged means that if your receiver is capable of kicking in ES or EX processing, it will do so if you have set the receiver up appropriately. It will also let you know if you can use EX or ES processing if you don't have it switched on.

Unflagged discs need to have ES processing manually switched on (and the receiver doesn't detect them as being ES, meaning that you need lists like the one above).

(This isn't a problem on my Marantz SR7200 which must have ES/EX manually kicked in for everything, although it does show ES flagging).

Thanks, Sam - I'm only on a DTS 5.1 so it doesn't affect me yet, but I now understand the general principle. [IMG]

I am sceptical that Die Another Day, Terminator 2 UE or
Monsters Inc. are ES Discrete 6.1.

The Monsters inc info I got from a friends copy using his PowerDVD XP (My PDVDXP does not recognise DTS), I may have misunderstood it.

    Edit:
Ive moved Die Another Day to Matrix (Thanks Maggi)
    Removed Monsters Inc
    Added Signs (Jap) (Thanks Maggi)
Removed T2UE from Discrete (Thanks Adam)
Removed Minority Report since it is not flagged properly (Thanks Maggi)

You can add K-19 The Widowmaker(German) on the DTS-ES Discrete 6.1 list.
The soundtrack is in German and English
    Comfirmed.

    Thanks Maggi,

Added K19 - The Widowmaker (German)

Im wondering about other Ministry of Sound releases. Their website does not list any details about their dvds but I tried the sunsets disc on a friends system and it was listed as DTS-ES discrete in the menu and on the box and seemed a decent mix in 5.1.

My copy of Die another Day, UK R2, definitely flags up DTS-ES Discrete on my receiver, Denon AVR 2803

    Maggi,

Just need to make sure, it is the English sound mix that is marked ES-Matrix on Fifth Element?
BTW: Thanks for the info on the German disks, its hard to find in English.

    Richard,

I'll get my copy of Die Another Day soon and check out what the mix is.
