I will be traveling to England and I would like to be able to play my Region 1 DVDs while there. Will Region 1 DVDs display on a PAL TV when using the US version of PowerDVD? Would I need any special cables to hook into a PAL television from a laptop?

Would the answers be different if I were in Australia?

    TIA...

    Ken,

powerdvd doesn't care. What does matter is if the video encoder chip on the laptop can output in PAL as well as NTSC, and whether there is a way to switch between them. I'd have to guess that most likely you won't be able to output PAL, but tell us what laptop (and video chipset) you have and maybe we can find out for sure

I will probably be using an IBM ThinkPad A21m with an ATI Rage Mobility-M AGP accellerator. The ATI is a discontinued model, so I guess it implies an old video chipset, but I'm not sure of the details.
