Was checking Secrets of HT and HIFI and a link in the middle of one of the speaker reviews caught my eye. I remember the animations, but I don't think I had the knowledge to properly understand the article at the time I read it. I just finished rereading it and a few more things regaurding subs now make a lot more sense to me.

Couple things that came to mind after reading the article again.

One, funny how this forum usually consider a 4" port as the starting size and he mentions it as a large port.

Second, I don't quite understand his comments on the construction tolarences for bass reflex systems. It seemed to me when playing with LspCAD and my sub design that I could vary the volume +/- 10L and the port length +/- 1/2" and it wouldn't make any significant change to my design. The tuning frequency would change less than +/- 0.5 hz or so. Those seem like rather larger tolarences to me.

That really is an excellent essay, GregM. sent me the link a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe I had never seen it.
