I just finished installing a Reference 50 in my system. It is mated with a Reference 200.7 I picked up 2 days ago to replace my
Parasound amps.

The unit produces a low level high pitched whine from all speakers.

The only source component I connected was my DVD-V/DVD-A/SACD to test the unit

The whine rises when the volume is turned up.

This is a whine and not a hum.

I just disconnected everthing from the pre/pro except the cables going to the amplifier.

I also disconnected the AC on both units from my Monster 7000 balanced power conditioner and plugged them into one of my dedicated circuits. This is a different circuit that is feeding my power conditioner.

These are also the only 2 devises plugged in to the circuit.

The whine is still present. It did not change at all. Also if I raise the volume to reference and beyond (I listen to some DVD-A material at +5db above reference) the S/N hiss is unacceptable!

When I used my 49TX as a pre/pro it was dead quiet with the volume gain wide open. (no program material playing of course)

I guess I should consider the unit defective.
