About two months ago I purchased the 50H81. Everything was going fine with it until a few weeks ago I noticed some red on the right side of the display when the screen was black (like during a very dark part on a DVD). The redness has gotten substantially worse, and I can now see it happening on the left side.

However, I only see it when the screen is almost black...during other scenes, I can barely notice it.

Does anyone have an idea of what is happening? Also, it is past the 30 day warranty at Best Buy, would the problem fall under the Toshiba 1 year warranty, or is this something that is going to end up costing me?

Thanks in adavnce for any help.

The Toshibas have a tendency toward red on the right, but I've never heard of it happening on the left.

Since the set is still under warranty, you might as well put in a service call and see if Toshiba can do anything about it.

I'm having the same problem! I thought it might be interference from the dvd player and receiver, so I moved them further away. During black or bright white parts of a movie I notice a red blotch on the right side and little on the left side of the tv. The DVD and receiver are over a foot away from the tv, is that far enough?

Gregg, could the Receiver and DVD player be causing any interference? I have the tower speakers more than far enough away from the tv.
