Imagine a re-telling of an '80s classic underdog tale, "Red Dawn", write a 2-hour script, and then release a 90-minute version of that movie, and add in plenty of watered down Rambo-esque guerilla warfare scenes with pretty young Hollywood actors. That's what you get with the 2012 version of "Red Dawn". Washington state is taken over by North Korea, but young adults from the town band together, calling themselves "Wolverines", and create a hostile place for their occupiers. The the film is short on characterization, which leads to a poor job of developing the core group. Also, neither the script or editing allow the film's premise to breathe much as scenes are cobbled together with a staccato-like cadence.
I give it 2 stars, or a grade of C.

Agree completely, but found it dopey fun and would give it a 3/5. It's a stupid mess of a film, but not a total disaster. Then again, it felt like it would never end, maybe I'm being too kind!
