Does the LD PCM get "downmixed" to compressed 2 channel dolby digital?
Or does it get compressed at all and sound inferior?
I do not own a DVD recorder, but just wondering.

I recorded all the Star Wars laser discs (Ep: 4,5,6) and they record in DD 2.0.

They do look and sound great though when played back on my home theater set up.

I can say, after using LD for 10+ years now, and using OTA HDTV, that DD 2.0 is not near as bad as people make it out to be. Quite good with DPLII, and various 6.1/7.1 cheater modes on todays recent processors / receivers.

That's what I have been saying myself for sometime now, John, especially with the advent of Dolby Pro Logic II as used on all my Dolby Stereo Surround soundtracks as encoded on both laserdisc AND DVD!!!! [IMG]
