I'd like to get a DVD of one of those old big production music-dance movies - Huge cakes, enormous staircases, etc, required.

Talkie of course, B&W is fine (maybe there are none in color anyway), but good clear picture is essential. Reasonably good story line will help!

    Any recommendations?

42nd Street is what he's best known for.

Much of his work is unfortunately not on DVD.

42nd Street is though, and it looks great. It's the best looking movie of this vintage on DVD that I've seen. Better than Criterion's that came from that era.

Really wonderful movie too. Busby's numbers would get much bigger with later films, but I'm not sure they got a whole lot better.
