Hey guys, I'm trying to look for a computer-based (not web-based) email client that'll allow me to check the mail from my hotmail account (my primary account).

I'd prefer not using outlook express due to all those nasty virii and whatnot floating around out there.

    Anybody have any good suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

I got a combination of MozillaFirebird as the email client, and "Hotmail Popper" to allow me to access it when it converts hotmail to a POP3 signal.

Dunno if im paranoid or what, but hearing stories about how vlruses are made to mainly be compatible with outlook and other popular MS products (IE), and that Outlook Express auto-runs viruses and stuff even if you dont open attatchments...

If you keep your patches and AV up to date you shouldn't have any problems. Outlook Express is OK as a mail client. There's better, and there's more secure, but it's OK take a few precautions.

Why don't you get a real email account though? Hotmail sucks. Slow, tons of spam, small size limits, ugh.
