I am lookign for a new DVD player that can reliably play SVCD's well. I do video production for a living, and wind up putting a lot of footage on SVCD as a prelim to DVD burning and also for personal family material.

I currently have a Panasonic RV22 connected to a Onkyo 767 receiver. I'd like somethign that has progressive scan as well as component vid and TOSlink aud outputs. So far Philips seem to most reliably read SVCD's as well as some SOny's. THe Panasonic's (unfortunately) don't seem to. Any body know specifically if the CP72 can?

ANy suggestions as to what player (and even where to get the best deal) would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

I would recommend the Sony NS755V, I have the NS715P which is essentially the same but lacks the SVCD and I am very happy with it.

Check out the DVD Player Section of VCDHelp.com. They list all the players and what assorted media/formats they all can play. Plus you can find out everything you ever wanted to know about VCD.
