I currently have the following DVD movies:

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Platinum Series Extended Edition)
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
    xXx
    Minority Report
    Saving Private Ryan - DTS
    We Were Soldiers
    Resident Evil (Superbit Collection)
    Blade II
    U-571
    The Matrix
    Gladiator
    The Patriot
    Gone in Sixty Seconds

I am planning on buying The Ring, The Haunting - DTS, and X-Men 1.5.

Any other relatively new movies that I should look at?

By the way, I am an audiophile, so I do like having awesome sound! So, any recommendations for DVD movies that have excellent sound?

If you like THE RING, you should check out DARKNESS FALLS.
I thought it had good surround effects. [IMG]

I'm guessing you have a decent HT with perhaps even 6.1 sound (for DTS or DD-EX).

I'm also guessing you like action films, lots of thundering from the sub...

Maybe post a little more on your interests / tastes in music and films.

Please post more on your system. E.G. do you have an ability to play all formats of music DVD's.

Suggestion right out of the chute based on your action film list:

Das Boot Superbit, Black Hawk Down, Band of Brothers, Spiderman

After that, there are thousands of films that people can throw at you as must haves but without your tastes, it's just people's personal tastes and not tailored for you.

E.G. Pulp Fiction to me is THE must have film.

We have Klipsch Reference Series 7 speakers powered with a Rotel RMB-1095 and using a Rotel RSP-1066 preamp/processor. No subwoofer for now, but will be getting the SVS PB2-Plus.

    Good start: 5, 6, or 7 speakers?

Music Taste? SACD or DVD-A important and playable?

Once you get your SVS, you're going to have to watch all your films again (twice cuz once you see them once then you have to show off the films) [IMG]

    It is a 5.1 setup.

I will be getting the Denon DVD-2900.

You sem to like action, so I'm going to recommend The Rock: Criterion, The Bourne Identity and The Animatrix. Animatrix isn't out until June 3rd, though.

If you liked The Ring, check out The Mothman Prophecies, which has a great scary sound mix (though I'm not sure how well it will go over without a sub...)

Maybe you'd like to give A.I. or Close Encounters a try.

Seems like all of the movies in your collection have come out in the last three years or so, but, nevertheless, I'll recommend a, um, classic: "Die Hard." One of the greatest action movies ever made and it's a nice "Five-Star Collection" DVD set with interesting extras. The two sequels, however, can be skipped.

    T2
    Total Recall
    First Blood
    Speed
    Die Hard 1 and 2
    Lethal Weapon 1 and 2
