So my Denon 3313 has started to give up and with all this new technology showing up now It's time to upgrade.

I have about $1000 to spend.
Looks like I need Atmos and DTS-X
4K ability.
What else do I need to have?

Just bought the Sony x800 and maybe within the next year I'll get a new 4K TV too but my
80" 3D Vizio is still working very well.
My three previous receivers have all been Denon but next one doesn't have to be.

Still have my 3803 and 3808.

If you want to stick with Denon you can get a 4300 for $800 at Amazon as retailers are trying to clear out those models for 4400 model. They're knocking off $700 on the 4300 model. Need to act fast with the holidays coming up as supplies are probably shrinking.

Thanks Robert.
I have noticed the discounted 4300.

Have to look into what the difference is to the newer 3400 and 4400.

I will only have 1 subwoofer.
Right now with my 3313 I have
2 front
1 ctr
2 ss
2 ss Center.

As long as I have that minimum I’m fine.

I might be leaning to the older model 4300.
Both seem nearly identical with about three differences
One being a record player input on the 4300.

Other differences include more power and more speaker connecting options that won’t do me any good.

Best Buy seems to be the only place offering the 4300 for as much as $1050.

I’m just a little iffy on buying something that’s already a year out of production.

Why?

Could be psychological. I feel like it’s already a year behind current tech.

I feel like I’m buying something that’s already a year out, I feel like I’m losing a year of tech.

What tech? That’s the question you need to answer. Anyway I gave you some ideas so I’m out. Good luck to whatever decision you make here.

At a glance the differences in the 4400 and 4300 are built in dts-x and built in Dolby vision.
The weight which from the 3400 to 4300 to 4400 goes from 23 to 27 to 30 lbs.

Oh and a 2 prong iec plug.

Yeah I appreciate that too.
It does look like the 4300 is the best bang for the price.

Actually you can buy the 4300 for about $200 less than the 3400.
If that is the case, then the 4300 is a much better buy. With the latest firmware updates, that model now has Dolby Vision support. There are very few differences between the 2016 and 2017 models from Denon. Take advantage of the clearance price and get a great deal.

I just got the 3400 and it will support those requirements well and offers the best sonic reproduction I've ever had, and I've had some very good receivers in the past. You can't go wrong!
