Care to recommend a budget sub for a second HT system $500 and below preferably.

So far I am considering JBL, Energy and PSB.

Better is musical

Hey bro, I hate to try to up your ante, but for $150 more you can get an SVS PB1-ISD. Those other subs do not hold a candle to this baby! I know because I just bought one. Something to think about.

give the Velodyne DLS3750 a try. its $500 retail, and its very nice. lots of bass, but still musical. best bet for the $$.

Common brands here are JBL, Energy, PSB, B&W, velodyne, Paradigm (but very expensive) hmm... what else. M&K but also expensive Mourdant Strout (if i spelled it right). Dai-ichi.
