Just need to upgrade my luggage but don't want it to cost a small fortune. Me and the family will travel only a few times a year so I don't need anything fancy...

I have had good luck with ebags.com You might check them out. They sell sets and individual pieces. They have a pretty broad selection but if you know kind of what you want you can usually narrow it down pretty quickly.

    Well, which is it? [IMG]

We recently bought some luggage at Kohls (Ricardo) that seemed a good deal.

I'd recommend Boyt's EON series luggage. It's a bit pricey, but built to last a lifetime.

I bought a 5pc set at target on sale for $40.

At those prices I'll use it 3 times and throw it away and still feel OK about it.

TravelPro is a good brand of luggage. Supposedly it is what people in the airline industry use.

There are quite a few coupons for eBags floating around...here's a link to one (no exp. date):

    20% off & free shipping

The Tumi pieces I own have been bulletproof. Regular retail is expensive, but I've been able to find them for 40 - 60% off at sales at dept. stores.

Hey Drew, Let me know when you get the luggage. I have been needing some also and was looking at this same deal and would like to know how you like it when you get it. My concern is will it hold up well. I travel on planes and they toss this stuff around and my last set did not hold up to the torture it received on the planes. Also how did ebags handle your purchase, was it a good experience etc...

    Thanks

    Jon

I never see them on sale...kind of like Bose, where they are prohibited from selling below MSRP. Tumi is good stuff, though.

Jon, I got all the piece in two seperate shipments with no problem. I do like them and I believe that they will hold up as long as we don't over stuff them. The wheels have a nice smooth roll on our hard wood floors.

In short, I'm very happy with the purchase and they appear sturdy enough to tide us over for a few years of family travel.

Thanks again for the recommendation from the HTF lads. [IMG]

i saw some special about fancy luggage.

this one company (don't recall name) had such fancy luggage that they *included* a "shipping sleeve" for the luggage to protect it.

so your luggage has it's own luggage ... go figure.
