recievers and component inputs (1 Viewer)

I have noticed that the new reciever/amps that are out have component video hookups. Wouldn't running comp. inputs from the DVD to the reciever, then to the t.v. reduce the quality? any thoughts?

Everytime an analog input goes through another component there is degradation. It is up to you to decide if it is noticeable, and if it is, whether it is worth the trade-off in convenience.

Try it with and without going through the receiver. If you can't see a difference, then by all means use it if you need an extra component input.

I use the two component inputs on my Denon 5700. I have a Panny RP-91 and JVC XV-S500(region free) dvd players, my Mits 46805 only has 2 component inputs. My TWC HD box goes directly into the tv. The two DVD players go into the Denon. The Denon component inputs pass progressive scan for my players.
