This week saw the release in Britain of 2 interesting archive releases. Firstly there was the release of The Troubleshooters: Mogul. The Troubleshooters was a drama series that ran for many years in Britain. Unfortunately a lot of episodes are now missing. The first season was called Mogul and 5 episodes of monochrome drama were released this week. Then the same company released Bat Out of Hell a famous Francis Durbridge thriller serial. That serial and the remaining Francis Durbridge thrillers were released in Australia this year in 2 box sets.. It does show that some vintage monochrome series are being released here in Britain. The other week we also got the surviving episodes of a comedy called Meet the wife as well. The sad thing is that if all these series had been made in America rather than in Britain it is likely that all the episodes that had been made would have survived.

Only by virtue of the fact that they would have been filmed, not videotaped.

The US did their share of tape wiping. The only difference is, most sitcoms and dramas in the US were filmed or kinescoped instead of directly videotaped. But sports, game shows, soaps... wiped en masse.

/I'm disappointed so much of Til Death Do Us Part is wiped, and there haven't been any comprehensive DVD releases.

Til Death has faired far better than a lot of British TV as all the color episodes (save for a 1970 election special and a couple of christmas themed sketches) are still around.
